About the artwork

Thomas Langley’s Nest 010 (Untitled) 005 delves into the mechanics of image creation through rhythmic compositions that balance painting and drawing. The work is grounded in the motifs of nests, serving as a metaphor for place, home, and travel, while Langley’s sculpted impasto technique lends permanence to these fleeting, transitional structures. The minimalist approach to material handling, paired with expressive mark-making, fosters a dialogue between abstraction and representation, transforming nests from simple shelters into symbols of self-comfort and the transformative journey from house to home.
