MEGAN MENZIES

Megan Menzies (b. 1995, Essex, UK) is a London based artist. She received an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2022 and a BA in Art History from the University of Bristol in 2016. Her work has been exhibited internationally with galleries such as LKIF gallery (Seoul) and Palazzo Monti (Italy) amongst others. In 2025 she took part as an exhibiting artist in the John Moores painting prize exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery (Liverpool). She has upcoming shows in 2026 with Huxley Parlour (London) and LKIF gallery (Seoul). Megan is a two-time recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant (2022 and 2025).

In her work Megan is drawn to moments and situations that are somewhat ordinary but have a particular atmosphere, feeling and tenderness. Her practice involves drawing, writing and painting to explore the dreamlike and emotive aspects of such moments. The view from a train window as the landscape whooshes past, a pair of feet immersed in swirls of water, the horizon framed between the nape of someone’s neck and their pony tail. She is interested in repetition, often painting the same scene twice, but just a few seconds has passed between them. She zooms in and out of scenes in her imagination, and plays with cropping and scale to create a sense of ambiguity within the paintings.
